Cellulite! A nasty word to a great many of us, but a very common entity in today's world. We all recognize it as that rippled, washboard-like skin that many people (mostly women as you've probably noticed) exhibit on various areas of their bodies. Unfortunately it detracts from the smooth, silky skin appearance that we all treasure. Nobody likes it - on one's own body, nor on anyone else, as it is certainly not pretty to look at. So. What can be done about getting rid of cellulite?
It is nothing new, and has been around for generations. However it seems to be more commonly evident in the last decade or so, than it used to be. Once it seemed to be relegated to middle-aged folk, and generally those who were somewhat overweight - but not so much anymore. Young women in their early 20's are now often exhibiting cellulite on their thighs and buttocks, and many ladies who are really not overweight can be seen with ripples appearing on their thighs.
The gorgeous and famed singer Beyonce was captured on film (well before her current pregnancy) with cellulite appearing on the backs of her legs. Nobody seems immune from it.
Why the dramatic increase? Evidence points to today's hurried lifestyle wherein everything is done in a rush, and people do not follow proper nutritious diets, and often do not get adequate and regular exercise.
So - to the point of my article - what to do about it?
There seems to be very little argument as to the cause of the cellulite. Simply explained, cellulite is an accumulation of fatty tissue under the skin, and we all know how we develop fat on our bodies - eating too much of the wrong types of food, probably coupled with insufficient physical activity to burn off unneeded calories. So that should be an easy fix - right? Just improve your diet and start exercising!
Well, I guess we all know how that works too. If it was that simple, all of us would be more fit and probably cellulite free. Maybe on some other planet huh?
However, there is some good news and I love to be the bearer of it. Getting rid of cellulite is not impossible, and you can do it. Been there - done that. Now I want to pass the steps along so others can do the same.
Regular exercise is a key component, and you must be prepared to "get physical", along with the following steps, or you will never be satisfied with your results. You probably already know that, but it needs to be re-stated. Like most efforts at promoting good health, exercise is a vital component. It is up to you as to whether you choose to bike, walk, swim, visit your local gym, or follow your own regimen, but it is crucial that you are active regularly. You may not have the time or ability to exercise daily, but even if you manage an hour every second day, it will reap benefits.
Proper diet is of course the second factor. Chances are that you don't need to be told this, but it is SO important that I just gotta nag you a bit. Sorry. We all know that a proper nutritious diet is also vital to a fit body, without surplus fat. Of course if you have a hectic lifestyle and rely on a lot of fast foods while out, and prepackaged frozen dinners when at home - you are a recipe for cellulite production. There are many diet suggestions to be found on line, and I suggest you find one that you are comfortable with. Here are some suggestions to help you get started.
Carry a small notebook and keep track of everything you eat for a week. Eat normally but be sure to write down everything including snacks and drinks.
After a full week, have a good look at the info. It will probably surprise you once you see it itemized! Be honest. Is there a lot of junk food - out of a box that only needs reheating? Are there a lot of fats, sugars and all kinds of chemical additives? If so, then like many of us, you really need to make some serious changes.
Avoid fried and fatty meats and instead shop for baked or broiled fish. Replace soda pop with real fruit juice, vegetable juice, or maybe just a glass of water! Be sure you are getting green and yellow veggies and definitely steer clear of high crbs like mac and cheese.
Forget about cookies or cake for snack time. Go with a cupful of nuts or yogurt, or perhaps raw veggies like celery or small carrots. Doesn't sound real exciting, I know, but you desperately need to do away with all those fats and toxins or that cellulite will have a permanent residence on your body.
Phase in the changes gradually so you don't turn yourself off right at the start. Radical changes to your eating habits are never a good move. Start slowly, making small changes every few days. If you fall off the wagon occasionally, don't let it stop you. Start again and keep trying. Don't give up. You WILL succeed!
Cellulite Cream is the last ingredient in getting rid of your cellulite, and keeping it off. Exercise and diet alone will probably do the job for you, but ONLY if you are a person who is able to rigidly adhere to those criteria. If you are like most of us, and tend to slide off your diet far too often, and usually forget about exercise for far too long, then you require extra help. That is exactly my problem and my diet and exercise seem to be on a roller-coaster ride. As a result, so was the appearance and disappearance of cellulite.
Eventually I discovered the use of cellulite creams to be extremely beneficial. Regular application of cream to the celllulite troubled areas of your body will help to flush out the toxins and fats, and get rid of that cellulite. Even when I am not keeping up with my diet and/or exercise, as long as I am using the cream, my cellulite does not re-appear.
